We had a great time on our field trip today to CrossRoads Heritage Center. Enjoy our pictures and get a peek into what we did!
What a great start we have gotten off to here in first grade this week! We completed our math assessments so next week we will begin with our two math groups. I am going with splitting into 2 groups so the size will be smaller and more manageable. When they are not with me, they will be in the computer lab working with Mrs. Medina, our new classroom assistant and for now, Ms. Wright, our student teacher.
Next week we will still be busy working on reading assessments. I will be pulling each child individually and finding out where we will need to start with in reading. It's a tedious and long process at times, but it provides such valuable information for organizing groups by ability and need for their reading skills. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Hopefully we will all have the chance to catch up on our sleep a little bit, especially me! Thanks again for all you do at home to provide for your child. I am loving getting to know each student! I don't know about your child, but I sure am tired! I had hoped to have posted last night, but I just ran out of time and energy! Keeping up with 24 first graders will either keep me young or kill me! This body isn't as young as it used to be!
Today our classroom assistant, Mrs. Brendy Medina, started working! She is getting her feet wet and Ms. Wright, our student teacher, is doing a great job helping out as well. I feel good about how things are going and am looking forward to a great year! More to come in the parent letter at the end of the week! That's all for now! We will start Meet Your Teacher drop-in at 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Many of us will be at inservices around the county. I'll be coming from Turner Ashby High School. That doesn't let out until 3:00 pm. So, if that doesn't work for you, please let me know and will arrange another time for you to come in. Looking forward to seeing everyone!!
